Welcome to And She Cooks!

Here you will find beginner-friendly recipes that I’ve made in my kitchen.

I try to squeeze as much as I can out of life, and food is no exception! My love for good food comes from growing up on all kinds of amazing home cooked meals made by my mother. I remember her testing recipes, making different iterations of one dish over and over to get things just right. I’m also naturally curious, so experimenting with cooking has been the most practical way for me to fulfill my desire to understand how things work and come together.

Preparing a good meal takes planning- finding the most promising recipe, gathering all the ingredients, then finally transforming those ingredients into something delicious. People who don’t consider themselves cooks (by whatever that means to them) don’t want to risk that time and effort on a meal they’ve never tried before; that’s where this blog comes in!

Here I’ll share recipes that have worked for me and the tips and tricks I’ve learned through trial and error. I haven’t had any formal culinary training (in fact, I only started cooking about 4 years ago) so there are plenty of things to be learned. Despite the occasional kitchen mishap I still manage to make the best of it and create the food featured on this blog.

So if I can do it, you can too!

I hope you find something here that sparks your interest in cooking, or at least enjoy the photos. If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop a line!

About Me Personally: I’m a half-Chinese, half-Filipino, born in Malaysia, but raised in Los Angeles kinda girl. I work in tech, but not really. I like food, cooking, photography, hiking, reading, drawing, painting, and margaritas.
